Apple Business Profiles -Twitter

“What jumps out to us is that Twitter has become more a triumph of humanity than a triumph of technology,” says Stone.

Maybe that's because the site has been plagued by technical issues since forever.

While I have a huge amount of respect for Jack Dorsey, I'm rather underwhelmed by the technological achievements of this lot. Maybe if they spent less time prettying up their swanky new office and more time actually getting Twitter to work properly, I may change my mind. It's quite clear that even large technical issues and outages aren't going to derail Twitter from serving a long overdue need being tapped into. When you look at how long Twitter have been running, since July 2006, and how few changes they've made to the system and how much criticism they've amassed, you really have to wonder what they do all day, besides tweet. Maybe they are distracted by their Apple gear? I may just cut them some slack :)

Apple Business Profiles - LinkedIn

"Every new engineer who joins LinkedIn automatically receives a new Mac Pro with dual quad-core “Nehalem” CPUs and 12 GB of RAM, as well as a MacBook. The only tough decision: engineers must choose between two 23-inch or one 30-inch Apple Cinema Display."

“In terms of low overhead and support, the Mac is an IT manager’s dream,” says Jennings. “I’d like to see a Mac on every desktop at LinkedIn.”

OK admittedly this reads like an advert. I'm just really jealous. But enough of the drooling, LinkedIn have been in the news this week for finally opening up to the rest of the business world, in the form of an API.

This profile of LinkedIn on the Apple Business site is quite a pleasant surprise. I've been ridiculed at work for being a fan of Apple more times than I care to remember, often to the point where I have to wonder if they actually know anything about Apple, OS X or the technologies in use. What I have found interesting is how some just don't get it. They see the empty interface on the surface, and think 'simple' goes right to the bone.

They've never heard of being able to search for something across a bunch of servers looking in emails, zip files, PDF's, web page bookmarks and more all at once, but they don't usually reply to my email when I send them a link to Spotlight Server.

Anyway, enough of that, before I start to get worked up, and this turns into a full blown rant :)

If you still don't think they're worthwhile as a business machine, read the article. And if you're still not convinced, I'm sorry I've wasted your time, time you could probably have spent tinkering around under the surface of Windows 7, tryna get it to work until, Service Pack 4 arrives.
